Hero

Here's my official nomination for Lewis Black to the Hero list.

So why Lewis Black?

If you have ever seen him on the Daily Show (or any other appearance), Lewis Black exemplifies that simple "WTF are they thinking?" attitude that we all need to apply to our thinking about the situation in the USA right now. On the Daily Show the other day, he talked about "Steroids in Baseball" - with everything else going on in this world - the US congressional leaders choose to discuss steroids in baseball. Last night, on Countdown he did a guest appearance and talked about the contents of the President's iPod. With the so called "Liberal" US media focused on issues such as the iPOTUS - it's no wonder people aren't paying attention to what's really going on. Of course, it's all tongue-in-cheek and completely sarcastic - but without pointing out these idiosyncrasies - how can we ever call attention to the things that really DO matter?

Installing Applications in OS X

Since I have a few family & friends who are new to OS X thought I would take a quick second and post a simple hint. OS X does a great job of opening the finder for new applications when they are downloaded. Usually, the application wants to be dragged to the 'Applications' folder on the hard drive. In the past, I always opened up a new Finder window and then dragged the application from one window to the other - that is until I discovered the nifty trick presented here.

Here's a sample of a typical Finder window after an application is downloaded:

In the upper right hand corner, there is a button who's function is not immediately obvious:

Click the button and the finder window changes appearance:

Viola! Now you can drag the application right to the "Applications" folder on your hard drive. Enjoy!
